Come to Prayer

Before you start your prayer, ask yourself:

Where is my faith?
Where is my heart?
Where is my consciousness of Allah?
Where is my humility before Allah, to Whom belong the heavens and the earth, and all that is in between?
Where is my shyness with Allah, Who Sees all and Hears all?
Where is my fear, and my hope, and my need and my love?
For Allah, the King of all kings, the Owner of power and sovereignty, the Most High, the Most Kind, the Most Generous, the Most Gentle, the Most Loving to His slaves.

Where is my mind?
Where are my intentions?
Have I left my worldly affairs and my worries at the door?
Have I truly left this world behind, in order to seek the world that is better and long-lasting?
Have I purified my heart, as I have purified my body?
Have I really tried, to pray as I should be praying?
To pray as though this was my last?
To pray as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed?

Hasn’t the time come, for me to pray?

Hasn’t the time come, for those who have believed that their hearts become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? – Surat al-Hadid 57:16
